Lufthansa Technik AG announced a takeover of shares in AirLiance Materials, from United Airlines and Air Canada. LHT now owns 100% of the Rochelle, Ill.-based supplier of traceable aircraft parts for heavy maintenance checks, overhauls and repairs of engines and airframes. [MORE]

Etihad Airways (EY) and airberlin technik signed a reciprocal agreement, under which airberlin technik will undertake maintenance of EY aircraft in Dusseldorf and EY will be responsible for all transit checks on Air Berlin aircraft in Abu Dhabi (AUH). [MORE]


Iberia (IB) is facing a new wave of strikes by its pilots represented by the SEPLA union, while ground workers and cabin crew have also voted for industrial action, although for different reasons. [MORE]


A J Walter Aviation has been selected by Cyprus Airways to provide full power-by-the-hour support for its fleet of 11 A319 and A320s, extending a 2009 contract through to 2016.

ServiceTec won an installation and support contract to install and maintain ARINC vMUSE systems at Berlin Brandenburg International Airport. Hardware installation is slated for completion by February.

Turkish Technic signed a one-year wheel & tire services agreement with Air Bishkek covering its A320 fleet, plus the overhaul of one set of A320 landing gear.

Jet Midwest Technik has signed a multi-aircraft contract with an unnamed foreign airline to perform C-Check, paint and other maintenance on MD-80 aircraft at its Kansas City Maintenance Base.

Turkish Technic has been named a member of the worldwide Airbus Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul network.

Advaero Technologies announced it has completed initial trials of a carbon composite product which utilizes fabric technology and Advaero’s new patent-pending HVARTM resin infusion process. The product was developed by Advaero as part of a consortium which includes Stanford University’s Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics and Chomarat Textile Industries. The consortium aims to develop the next generation of carbon composites for aerospace manufacturing and other industries.

Ameco Beijing announced that beginning this month, its Ameco Chongqing station and Guangzhou station will provide comprehensive line maintenance service for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 747 cargo aircraft.

Saab Sensis Aerobahn has been selected by US Airways. Saab will supply its airport surface management system for the carrier's use at the Charlotte-Douglas, Philadelphia and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airports, to provide real-time visibility of all ground operations.

ST Aerospace subsidiary ST PAE Holdings Pty has entered into an agreement with Aviation International Engineering Services Pty (AIRS) to transfer AIRS' 50% stakes in Aerospace Engineering Services Pty (AES) and AES Unit Trust to ST PAE. AES will become a wholly owned subsidiary of ST PAE.


FlightSafety International promoted Nidal Sammur to dir.-engineering of its simulation facility in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Nidal joined FlightSafety in 1992.

PAS Technologies has elected Tom Hutton as CEO. Hutton most recently served as VP-Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners.

KLM UK Engineering Limited has appointed Paul Chün MD. Chün will join KLM from AFI KLM E&M subsidiary EPCOR.
