You have until the end of this month to take advantage of
$100 off the regular price of $525 for the all-access pass to the Club
Industry Conference and Trade Show, Oct. 6-8 in Chicago. The
all-access pass enables you to attend any of the 110-plus seminars in 13
tracks and gives you admission to the luncheon roundtables on Oct. 6 and
the business breakthrough brunch on Oct. 8. All of these options
purchased separately would cost $980, so the all-access pass is a
savings of 60 percent. And, as always, the keynote addresses (Richard
Simmons and Bill Rancic, winner of “The Apprentice”) are free to
everyone.

By Thanksgiving, Steve Lumpee expects to open the $1.3 million,
11,000-square-foot addition to his Aggieland Fitness Dome,
College Station, TX. The facility opened
in January 2004 as the world’s first monolithic dome fitness
center. The addition will house group fitness, group cycling, a
mind/body room for yoga and Pilates, and a full-sized gymnasium for
basketball, volleyball and indoor boot camps. The addition was designed
by the original architect for the dome, Robert Payne of R.L. Payne and
Associates, a local full-service commercial architectural firm. Lumpee
says he’s adding new amenities to increase the fitness choices for
current members, and he hopes to attract new members to what will be the
only indoor basketball/volleyball court at a private facility in College
Station. Membership pricing for the facility will remain unchanged.

this super cute photo essay from The Washington Post. Apparently,
soldiers in Afghanistan rescued a litter of tiger-striped kittens that
they found on base last summer.
