Akradi Pleads Guilty to
Misdemeanor
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN -- Bakram Akradi, CEO of Life Time Fitness, Eden
Prairie, MN, pled guilty last week to a misdemeanor assault charge in
connection with a Feb. 23, 2006, incident at his daughter's high school.

Washington Y Kicks Off Helping Kids
Grow Campaign
EVERETT, WA -- The YMCA of Snohomish County in Washington kicked off
its annual Invest in Youth Helping Kids Grow campaign in mid-February
with a 2007 campaign goal of $812,000 to support the Everett,
Marysville/North County, Monroe/Sky Valley, Mukilteo, and Southeast
Family YMCAs and the Big Brothers Big Sisters branch. If the goal is
reached, about 2,000 low-income children and adults would be able to
participate in Y programs throughout Snohomish County, Al Boren, vice
president of planning and development, told The Daily Herald.

Receives Design Award
NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- The Air Combat Command (ACC), a major command of
the U.S. Air Force, presented its Facility Design Honor Award to

AED Issue
Active in Several States
INDIANAPOLIS -- Several state legislatures are considering
legislation related to automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Indiana's Senate Health and Provider Services Committee introduced a
bill early last month requiring all health clubs to have an AED. Read

Club Operators
Must Report Injuries to OSHA
WASHINGTON, DC -- Health club operators, in compliance with the
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), must post a
summary of the number of job-related injuries and illnesses that
occurred in 2006.
Operators need to have OSHA Form 300A posted in their clubs until April
30. Clubs with no injuries to record must post the form with zeros on
the total line. More information and copies of OSHA Forms 300 and 300A

Oklahoma
Committee Passes Tax Credit Bill
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Senate Finance Committee passed a bill
on Feb. 13 that would give a tax credit equal to 20 percent of the cost

South Carolina
Introduces Bill Prohibiting Automatic Renewal
COLUMBIA, SC -- Last month, a bill that would prohibit automatic
renewal of health club contracts was referred to the South Carolina
House Committee on Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs after
being introduced in the South Carolina House of Representatives. The
bill would also limit the duration of month-to-month health club
contracts to no more than 12 months.

PITTSBURGH -- One in two subjects with mild to moderate knee
osteoarthritis (OA) demonstrated improvements in walking performance
after completing a 12-week, community-based Spinning® group cycling
program, according to a recent study accepted for presentation at the
World Conference for Physical Therapy. Spinning program participants
demonstrated significant improvements in preferred gait velocity and
reduced gait asymmetry at maximum velocity compared to members of a

SCHILLER PARK, IL -- Life Fitness' newest commercial exercise
equipment will feature seamless iPod integration, the company announced.
This connectivity makes it possible for iPod users to plug in and charge
their iPods, watch video on the equipment's large LCD screen and control
the playing of their iPod music libraries from the console. The
connection also powers and charges the iPod. Users can plug headphones
directly into the equipment console or their iPod for audio while safely
