Yao Ming Appears at Club Opening in China
SAN RAMON, CA -- All-Star basketball player Yao Ming was on hand at
the grand opening of his first signature health club, California
Fitness--Yao Ming Sports Club, on Sept. 15 in Beijing, China. The
40,000-square-foot club is the first 24 Hour Fitness club in China.

GOODYEAR, AZ -- Several Southwest Valley Regional YMCA child care
employees were fired after a 1-year-old boy was left unattended in the
Y's child care center. The boy's mother found her son soaked in what she
believes was toilet water, according to a report by Phoenix TV station

WASHINGTON, DC -- More than 1,500 YMCAs nationwide participated last
week in America On the Move Week with the YMCA. The campaign, which is a
partnership of the America On the Move Foundation and the YMCA of the
USA, was created to educate and motivate people to make two small daily
changes -- taking 2,000 more steps and eating 100 fewer calories --
which research shows can prevent the average annual weight gain of one

WTS International provided pre-opening duties and is now
performing daily management services for the L'Auberge de Sedona (AZ).
The spa was recently included on Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List

Bally Total Fitness, Chicago, has tapped Eastwest Marketing Group to handle
its creative and promotional tasks, which previously had been handled by
Bally's in-house marketing department as well as various firms. Bally
spent $75 million in measured media last year and almost $50 million
through the first half of 2007.
Mad Dogg Athletics (MDA) won
a cyber-piracy lawsuit against NYC Holding for trying to use SPNERGY as
its trademark, according to a statement by MDA. MDA owns the SPINNER
trademark and won $300,000 in damages from the suit.
Elements, a women's fitness club, will offer the GRAVITYSystem from
efi Sports Medicine in
its clubs. The system offers core-strength training with more than 250
total-body exercises.
Retention
Management will provide retention services to the YMCA of the
Capital Area in Baton Rouge, LA. Retention Management will provide
automated member-communication services that include personalized e-mail
communication and on-going e-mail marketing messages to the Y's new
members.
Expresso Fitness
partnered with Gold's Gym for the club company's national vendor
program. Expresso Fitness is a pre-screened supplier for Gold's Gym's
franchisees and corporate facilities.
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez recently purchased Hampton Fitness' Gel-Grip Series
dumbbells.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Kenny Florian,
sponsored by VersaClimber,
won his match at UFC Fight Night on Sept. 19. Florian fights in the
155-pound weight class and trains on the VersaClimber. His record is
9-2.
