Bally Making Payments to Former
Stockholders
CHICAGO -- Bally Total Fitness has begun making an initial cash
distribution of 31 cents a share to former stockholders, in accordance
with the terms of Bally’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan, the company

The Sports Club Co. Revenue Increases
LOS ANGELES -- The Sports Club Co. Inc., Los Angeles, had 2007
revenue of $61.7 million and revenue in the fourth quarter 2007 of $15.5
million, according to a statement from the company. Revenue for 2007 was
up 4.9 percent over 2006 revenue, which was $58.8 million. Revenue for
the fourth quarter of 2007 increased by 4.5 percent from $14.9 million
in 2006.
The Sports Club Co., which trades on the Pink Sheets, operates and owns
luxury sports and fitness complexes nationwide under the brand name The
Sports Club/LA.

PHILADELPHIA -- In a two-year study involving five Philadelphia
elementary schools that replaced sodas with fruit juice and reduced the
amount of snacks and candy available in vending machines and the
cafeteria, the number of students who gained weight in those schools was
half the number of students who gained weight in schools that made no

IHRSA Releases Book on the
Healing Power of Exercise
BOSTON -- The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub
Association (IHRSA) released “The Healing Power of Exercise,” which
features 50 studies that explain the ways in which regular exercise
fights disease, improves the quality of life and helps stave off the
effects of aging.
“This new report further solidifies the knowledge that exercise is
medicine, and through exercise we all can live happier, healthier
lives,” Joe Moore, IHRSA’s president and CEO, says in a statement
from IHRSA. “It is our hope that 'The Healing Power of Exercise' will
be a useful educational tool for health clubs and suppliers to the
industry, as we work together to improve the health of the world through
regular exercise.”

Products' retail team as Western regional sales manager for the
retail division. Meyer is filling the position previously held by Kevin
Kingston, recently promoted to director of commercial sales. Meyer

Athletes’ Performance, which offers sports performance training
and physical therapy, and Power
Plate North America recently announced a five-year extension to the
strategic partnership that began in 2005. The agreement extends Power
Plate’s position as an elite performance partner and the official
whole-body vibration provider for Athletes’ Performance Institutes
nationwide. Athletes' Performance will spearhead ongoing education in
whole-body vibration training applications and techniques for
performance training professionals across the country.
Expresso Fitness promoted
Jeff Thomas, director of key accounts, to East regional director, and
hired Steve Rice as West regional director. As regional directors,
Thomas and Rice will manage and support national accounts, direct
Expresso’s regional managers, and provide dealer support on training,
service and product sell-through. Thomas and Rice have a combined 30
years of experience in the fitness industry.
