Against Las Vegas Club Goes to AG

able to offer free enrollment to women if it doesn’t do the same for

Closes Last Club in Hawaii, Announces Company Hires
IRVING, TX -- Last year, Keith Albright, senior vice president of
franchising at Gold’s Gym International, said the company planned to
open about a half dozen Gold’s Gyms in Hawaii over the next few years.
Those plans will not include the last remaining Gold’s Gym in Hawaii,

CHARLESTON AIR FORCE BASE, SC -- When Air Force service members take
their annual fitness test, most of them hope to pass. But one commander
is inspiring his group to do much more than just pass. Col. Joseph
Mancy, 437th operations group commander at Charleston Air Force Base
(SC), passed his July fitness test with a score of 100 percent in the

Three
States Reach 30 Percent Adult Obesity Rate, Study Shows
WASHINGTON, DC -- The number of states that have an adult obesity
rate of at least 30 percent has jumped from one to three. West Virginia
and Alabama join Mississippi in that category, according to the fifth
annual “F as in Fat: How Obesity Policies are Failing in America,

Planet Fitness, Dover, NH, was named to Inc. magazine’s
annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the United
States. Planet Fitness was 732nd overall and had the No. 1 spot among
U.S. health club companies. The Inc. 5,000 list ranks businesses
according to revenue growth in the previous four years. From 2004 to
2007, Planet Fitness’ annual revenues grew from $8.4 million to $48.5
million, an increase of 472 percent.
Chuck Leve, vice president of business development at the
International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), will
leave the association at the end of this month to launch the Consumer
Fitness Association, a new association that will serve active, healthy
lifestyle consumers.

The YMCA of Greater Houston has signed a six-year agreement
making Precor the exclusive
supplier for its fitness centers’ strength, cardio and entertainment
equipment.
With 38 locations in the Greater Houston area, the Houston YMCA is the
third largest association in the U.S.
In a recent OK! magazine interview, country music singer Melissa
Lawson attributed her healthy lifestyle to her use of Vitabot, an on-line nutrition
tracking program that was provided to her by The Texas Club, which is
located near her home in a suburb of Dallas.
Fitness Flooring released Zenterra, a bamboo sports floor
designed specifically for group exercise and yoga. While bamboo has been
used for sports flooring, Zenterra is the first bamboo product designed
specifically for group exercise and yoga rooms.
