Features New Fitness Test
CAMP LEJEUNE, NC -- Marine trainers featured the Corps’ new
fitness test this week that replicates the physical demands of combat.
The trainers were at Camp Lejeune’s Base Theater on Monday and Tuesday
to demonstrate the new test, according to The Associated Press.
The Combat Fitness Test features a timed 800-yard run, lifting a
30-pound ammunition can for two minutes, and a 300-yard course that
requires Marines to combat crawl, drag and carry a casualty, and throw a
grenade, the AP reports. The entire test, completed in combat boots and
utility uniforms, will be a semi-annual requirement for active-duty
Marines. It will be scored on a 300-point system starting in October
2009, according to the Marine Corps’ Web site.

Sales Up, Net Income Down at Cybex
MEDWAY, MA -- Cybex International Inc. reported third quarter 2008
net sales of $35.8 million compared to $32.6 million in third quarter
2007, but its net income for the quarter was $300,000 compared to $4.6
million during the same period last year, according to a release from

Segment Is a Bright Spot for Brunswick
LAKE FOREST, IL -- Brunswick Corp.’s fitness segment had an 8
percent increase in sales with a strong demand for commercial product in
the third quarter compared to the third quarter of last year, providing
Brunswick with at least one bright spot in an otherwise dismal third
quarter. The Fitness segment is comprised of the Life Fitness division,

Anytime Fitness, Hastings, MN, was named the fastest-growing
private company in the state of Minnesota by the Minneapolis/St. Paul
Business Journal at an awards ceremony last week. The 24-hour
key-card club company has experienced a 348 percent growth rate since
2005.
Equilibrium, a boutique fitness center in Boston’s Financial
District, is celebrating its second anniversary in November. The club,
which will host an open house on Nov. 18, is actively seeking locations
for additional clubs, according to Ben Crosbie, president. Crosbie adds
that he is confident that the club’s philosophy and infrastructure are
sound and can bring true health and wellness to areas throughout the
region.

now offers a newsletter with information about flooring and the newest
additions to the company’s product line. It also features clients with
photos of their new floors and a question and answer section. The
company says that it is offering the newsletter because it prides itself
on being the “information source” for the flooring industry.
PhysicalFitnet, a
provider of fitness content and Web-based tools, has launched a free
online fitness video library, which includes its VideoShare feature.
VideoShare was designed specifically for fitness businesses and blogs to
integrate video in a variety of ways onto their sites at no cost. It
allows Web sites to browse, select and embed any of the 900 clips
PhysicalFitnet offers to enhance users’ Web experiences. Web sites can
also choose from a number of PhysicalFitnet widgets. The videos in the
exercise library are brief demonstrations (approximately 10 seconds
long) by personal trainers.
