Resigns as Gold’s CEO
IRVING, TX -- In a surprising move, David Schnabel resigned last
week as CEO of Gold’s Gym International. James Weaver is the new CEO

Texas School Breaks
Ground on New Student Rec Center
KINGSVILLE, TX – Officials at Texas A&M-Kingsville broke ground
last month on a $12 million student recreation center that is expected
to be completed by January 2010.
The 36,000-square-foot center will house two multipurpose gymnasiums for
basketball, volleyball and soccer and will include a 5,200-square-foot
cardio fitness and weight room and an elevated jogging track. There will
be men’s and women’s locker rooms, an equipment and laundry room and
department offices. Funding for the new center will come from student
service fees that students approved through a referendum.

Snap Fitness, Chanhassen, MN, has hired former Curves President
and Chief Operating Officer Gary Findley as vice president of sales and
marketing. Findley, a former franchising consultant, is helping prepare
Snap Fitness to enter markets in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the
United Kingdom. Snap Fitness already has clubs under construction in
India and plans to have franchises open in Mexico by early next year.
24 Hour Fitness, San Ramon, CA, opened its doors this past weekend
to all active, reserved or retired military members for a free workout
in honor of Veteran’s Day weekend. The promotion began Friday and
lasts until Tuesday.
Planet Fitness, Dover, NH, was featured in the Nov. 7 edition of
The Wall Street Journal. The article focused on a former Wall
Street banker who decided to become a Planet Fitness franchisee.
Systems has been named the preferred vendor program of the JCC
Association of North America. Inclusion in this program makes Matrix a

Expresso Fitness is hosting a
two-week fundraising campaign to support the mission of the American
Diabetes Association (ADA). The fundraising campaign, Pedal for

Nov. 16. Individuals interested in participating can sign up by creating
