In Brief...
The Institute of Medicine and The Bravewell Collaborative
convened a meeting on integrative medicine Feb. 25-27 to examine the
ways in which a proactive approach to wellness could be encoded into the
nation’s health care policies. In addition to reviewing the current
state of integrative medicine, the meeting organizers sought to identify
priorities for an agenda moving forward. View videocasts from the

The owner of a club in Pawtucket, RI, has been charged with
first-degree arson for allegedly burning down his club, multiple media
outlets report. Pawtucket police say Gary Gaudreau, 71, set fire to the
Physique Company in the early morning of March 2. The fire occurred
during a raging snowstorm. Fire officials say no one was injured during
the blaze, but two antique cars were damaged after flames spread to
nearby garages.
The Oakland Athletic Club, an exclusive fitness club in downtown
Birmingham, MI, is closing in June, according to the Birmingham
Eccentric. The club catered to everybody from power brokers to
homemakers. The current economic climate and an increase in rent
prompted the decision, a partner in the club says. The club opened in
1995 and had 1,500 members and employed 30 people at its peak. Golfer
Tiger Woods and actor Gabriel Byrne worked out at the club when they
were in the area.

Have a question regarding Club Management
Software?
Ask Michael Scott Scudder, Club Management Expert
Q: Hi, my name is Tera and I am a personal
trainer. My question is when I get a potential client, how in the world
do I close the deal? I get really uncomfortable at the end of my
consultation appointments for some reason and I know that they know.
A: Sounds like you are uncomfortable asking for money.
First off, it's not a "deal" you're seeking, it's the "building of a
relationship of trust" with a human being. They have to trust that you
can help them to succeed at what they want in regards to their personal
