In Brief...
New York Sports Clubs (NYSC), operated by Town Sports International, New
York, announced a partnership to become the official training site of
the Jets Flight Crew, the dance and cheerleading team of the National
Football League’s New York Jets. The partnership will include newly
created cardio dance classes, led by members of the Jets Flight Crew at
select NYSC locations, as well as full membership privileges for the
team to continue to rehearse and practice their game-day
routines.
After a successful soft launch in April, Pink Iron, a women-only,
full-service health and fitness center in West Hollywood, CA, will
officially launch on Oct. 15. The club was created by Holly Holton,
certified personal trainer and globally ranked fitness competitor, and
is staffed by more than a half-dozen female personal trainers. The
4,000-square-foot facility features pink gym equipment, plus a
functional training area, a group fitness classroom, a private Pilates
area and locker rooms.
The North Central Florida YMCA
could not pay the 200 employees in its eight-county region last week,
according to The Gainesville Sun. Officials told the newspaper
that its financial difficulties were caused by several factors,
including a one-time retirement fund payout, United Way funding cuts,
and declining memberships and donations. The Y expected to pay employees
this week, though an exact date was not given.
