some assets of its StairMaster and Schwinn Fitness commercial line to
Fit Dragon International Ltd.

have filed a lawsuit against the club for alleged sex-based
discrimination and retaliation. The two say they were fired after they
filed sexual harassment complaints with the club’s human resources

FORT LEAVENWORTH, KS -- Fort Leavenworth recently completed
Phase I of an initiative to implement the Army’s Comprehensive Soldier
Fitness Program (CSF) by installing new functional fitness equipment in
its Harney gym.

NEWARK, DE -- The barely two-year-old Bear-Glasgow Family
YMCA, Newark, DE, announced a 9,000-square-foot expansion project this
week that the facility says is needed to accommodate its member base of
22,000 people.

Life Time
Fitness, Chanhassen, MN, announced plans to open a new club in
Lenexa, KS, in March. This will be the second Life Time club in the
Kansas City area, (the Overland Park, KS, location opened in 2006) and
the second new Life Time club scheduled to open in 2010. The company
previously announced that a new club in the Cleveland suburb of
Beachwood, OH, would open in January.
As a buildup to the annual “Civil War” football game between the
University of Oregon Ducks and the
Oregon State University
Beavers, the schools’ rec centers hosted an “Energy Civil War” to
see whose students could produce the most energy on retrofitted
ellipticals. From Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, students generated 24,000 watt
hours of energy. Oregon came out on top by a margin of only 200 watt
hours, or four 30-minute workouts. The event was co-sponsored by student
sustainability groups on both campuses as well as the campus recreation
departments. Oregon officials said this will be an annual event to
promote both fitness and sustainability.
The Navy Exchange
Service Command (NEXCOM) announced a recall today of the new
high-performance physical training uniform (PTU) shorts that went on
sale Nov. 27. NEXCOM said the word "NAVY" on the shorts peels off after
being laundered. New PTU shorts should be available in about eight
weeks.

Fitness, San Ramon, CA, recently introduced My24,
an iPhone application and mobile Web site. The My24 iPhone app includes
a club finder, club details, a class schedule finder and a default club
setting. My24 users also have access to personal health tools such as a
body mass index calculator, a daily calorie calculator and a video
library.

have many people in our industry expressing passionate views on the
subject. One of the most passionate people on this subject is Jay
Delvecchio, president and CEO of World Instructor Training Schools
(WITS).

I enjoyed a whirlwind tour of the Athletic Business
Conference and Expo last week in Orlando. There were some neat new
product announcements and a great group of instructors assembled to
address the attendees from the military fitness, nonprofit facilities,
university fitness, and parks and rec sectors.
