closed its doors last Friday as a result of foreclosure. The
45,000-square-foot club, which had been in business for 29 years, had
between 2,000 and 2,500 members in the 1980s and 1990s, owner Chuck Hise
told The Saginaw (MI) News. That number dwindled to 500 members
in its final days. Potential Energy employed 29 people.

Students at the University of
California-Riverside voted to approve a rec center expansion
project. The current rec center is operating at 72 percent beyond its
capacity and has 30-minute waiting lines for cardio equipment, school
officials say. Opponents of the proposal say the proposed
$149-per-quarter student fee increase is too high. The new facility is
expected to open in the winter of 2014 and will have three times the
current amount of space for cardio and weights, as well as an indoor
rock climbing wall, juice bar and swimming pool.
