65 years old, marking the beginning of a shift that, according to
Department of Health and Human Services statistics, will see the number
of older people rise to 19 percent of the United States population over
the next 20 years.

NAPLES, FL -- Dale Dibble, founder of Cedardale Health &
Fitness, Haverhill, MA, and one of the co-founders of the International
Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), has died. He was
90.

letter to shareholders on Dec. 13 vowing to fight a jury verdict in

Hour Fitness, San Ramon, CA, has earned national accreditation from
the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and an A-plus rating for every one of
its more than 420 clubs. The BBB’s accreditation identifies 24 Hour as
actively compliant with the bureau’s standards, which include a
commitment to member satisfaction. “We are very proud of achieving an
A-plus rating and will continue to focus on providing clean, friendly
and well-maintained clubs for a great value to our members and
guests,” 24 Hour CEO Carl Liebert said in a statement. 24 Hour clubs
will be free of charge to all guests Dec. 24-31.

Fitness, Irvine, CA, recently opened two new clubs, one in Abington,
PA, and one in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Grand opening parties for each club
are scheduled for early next year. These clubs and one that recently
opened in Leesburg, VA, bring LA Fitness’ club total to 360.
Crunch,
New York, will open its ninth San Francisco-area club next March in Daly
City, CA. The 27,000-square-foot club in the Serramonte Mall will join
tenants that include Starbucks, Macy’s, H&M and Target.
In concert with Vanguard Realty Group, Sport &
Health will lease a 42,000-square-foot fitness facility that will be
constructed in Woodbridge, VA. This facility will be the 25th location
for Sport & Health. The company is finalizing leases at several other
locations throughout the Washington, DC, metro area, according to an
announcement from Sport & Health.

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) has appointed Todd
Galati as the director of academy. Galati, who has been with the
organization since 2005, is now responsible for overseeing the
certification and continuing education programs for ACE’s network of
fitness professionals. Galati is one of the key contributors to the ACE
Integrated Fitness Training Model and was integrally involved with its
launch. He initially joined ACE to manage the organization’s resource
center and was most recently ACE’s certification and exam development
manager.
