24 Hour Fitness plans to open new clubs in New York, New
Jersey, Maryland and Florida in 2011, investing more than $100 million

ZX Fitness, Charlotte, NC, will host a charity arm
wrestling tournament on Jan. 15 at its club in Harrisburg, NC, to
benefit the Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home in Wilkesboro, NC. Arm
wrestlers from around the country will participate, including former
national champions Paul Walter and James Retarides. ZX Fitness also is
accepting school supplies, toilet paper and clothes for the home.

The Houston Texans YMCA opened on Monday in Houston. It is the first
Y in the country to be named for a professional sports team. The Y is
the primary community partner of the NFL team, which donated a large sum
of money to help build the facility and pledged to be involved with some
of its programming.

The Curve treadmill manufactured by Woodway, Waukesha,
WI, was featured during the first challenge of NBC’s “The Biggest
Loser,” season 11. The manufacturer says that its non-motorized
treadmill burns up to 30 percent more calories than conventional
motorized treadmills because the user powers the running
surface.
PowerVibe, Dallas, supplier of whole-body vibration products, has
appointed Scott Logan to its senior management team. Logan brings 20
years of sales, marketing and management experience in the specialty
fitness and medical industries to the brand.
