  • ZX Fitness, Charlotte, NC, will host a charity arm wrestling tournament on Jan. 15 at its club in Harrisburg, NC, to benefit the Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home in Wilkesboro, NC. Arm wrestlers from around the country will participate, including former national champions Paul Walter and James Retarides. ZX Fitness also is accepting school supplies, toilet paper and clothes for the home. “When ZX Fitness heard about the foundation, we knew we wanted to help and in a different way,” says David Buzo, ZX Fitness director of marketing.   • The Houston Texans YMCA opened on Monday in Houston. It is the first Y in the country to be named for a professional sports team. The Y is the primary community partner of the NFL team, which donated a large sum of money to help build the facility and pledged to be involved with some of its programming.

The manufacturer says that its non-motorized treadmill burns up to 30 percent more calories than conventional motorized treadmills because the user powers the running surface.
