  • 24 Hour Fitness, San Ramon, CA, publicly congratulated New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter for his 3,000th career hit last Saturday. Jeter is a 24 Hour signature athlete and a partner in three 24 Hour clubs in New York City that he designed with the company. "Derek is an ambassador for 24 Hour Fitness as we promote healthy, active lifestyles for all New Yorkers and Americans," 24 Hour CEO Carl Liebert said in a statement. "We are extremely proud of our relationship with Derek and look forward to seeing what he will accomplish next."
  • LA Fitness, Irvine, CA, unveiled its redesigned website on Tuesday. The website allows members to designate a home club page and includes the integration of social networking through Facebook and Twitter, among other new features.
  • Personal Training Institute, Encino, CA, was voted the best personal training studio in the Best of Our Ventura Blvd contest. The facility, which opened in March, will be included in the complete list of winners and finalists published in the Best of Ventura issue of Ventura Blvd Magazine.

  • FitView, San Jose, CA, officially launched as a company on Tuesday. FitView, which was featured in the June issue of Club Industry, has created apps for the Apple iPad that provides tools geared for fitness coaches in personal training, boot camp and CrossFit environments. "Until now, trainers were stuck piecing together training and tracking regimens based on paper logbooks, spreadsheets and other cumbersome tools," Calin Pacurariu, founder and CEO of FitView, said in a statement. "FitView changes all that with a smart solution for both trainers and their clients. Our apps ensure trainers can plan, run and grow their custom programs more effectively and efficiently and connect with clients like never before."
  • The American Council on Exercise's Joining Forces program, which was featured on the Club Industry website, is pledging 1 million hours of free fitness training services to family members of actively deployed military reservists and National Guard members. Fitness professionals, businesses and organizations can sign up here to donate training sessions, classes or memberships and get matched with local military families in need.
  • TRX, San Francisco, announced Mark Urlage will be the new senior director for North American commercial sales. Urlage previously held senior sales positions at Nautilus and IFH/Expresso, where he expanded the brand internationally.
  • Visual Fitness Planner, Fort Worth, TX, and In Touch Follow-Up, Vancouver, British Columbia, have entered into a trusted vendor relationship with REX Roundtables. The companies will develop technology best practice solutions that all REX Roundtable members can access.
  • Motionsoft, Silver Spring, MD, has introduced MoSo, a new program that integrates cloud technology with online member services, social media and advanced business intelligence. MoSo is a scalable member management software-as-a-service product that is suitable for small, medium and enterprise-level clients.
