LA Fitness, Irvine, CA, has announced three new club openings in Atlanta; Mission Viejo, CA; and the Pittsburgh suburb of North Hills, PA. All three clubs will hold grand openings on Sept. 17. Today, LA Fitness announced the launch of Zumba classes at its clubs nationwide.
Millennium Partners Sports Club Management LLC, Boston, announced that The Sports Club/LA and Reebok Sports Club/NY are introducing new classes, Aspen Ascent and ZenCore, in late September. Aspen Ascent, created in a partnership with Aspen/Snowmass, prepares members for skiing and boarding. ZenCore follows the principals of the club's Zenergy class by combining yoga, strength, cardio and restorative postures in each sequence.
Anytime Fitness, Hastings, MN, has signed "The Biggest Loser" finalist Tara Costa as an official spokesperson. During her appearance on Season 7 of the NBC TV series, Costa won eight challenges, the most of any contestant in the show's history, and lost 155 pounds. "We believe that Tara is a perfect fit for us," Anytime Fitness CEO Chuck Runyon said. "Our mission is: 'To improve the self-esteem of the world.' Tara has proven through hard work and determination that anything is possible."

The Ab Coaster Co. has become a sponsor of the Jessica's Hope Project, and Sean Gagnon, vice president of Ab Coaster, will sit on the board of directors. Jessica's Hope Project is a non-profit organization that focuses on sending fitness-oriented care packages overseas to all branches of the military. The average deployed military individual loses 50 pounds of body weight per deployment. To prevent this unhealthy weight loss, Jessica's Hope sends care packages including protein bars, Muscle Milk and vitamin supplements to military personnel to maintain their physical well-being and mental sharpness.
Western Athletic Clubs, San Francisco, has selected Spectrum NG by CSI Software, Houston, as its new enterprise software. With Spectrum NG, the company can consolidate its six operating systems into one. "In one solution, we will get club management, scheduler, spa management, retail POS, prospect management, event management and contract management," says Dave Nadeau, CFO, Western Athletic Clubs. The company will be one of the first customers to use the new CSI Software Cloud service.
Industry software and billing services provider ABC Financial Services Inc. is expanding its Sherwood, AR, headquarters and adding 100 jobs. The Arkansas Economic Development Commission has granted ABC several financial incentives to encourage the expansion, including a five-year 1 percent tax credit for creating new jobs and sales tax refunds on building material purchases, according to an agency spokesman. The expansion will bring the 30-year-old company's total number of employees to 400.
Jerry Abbott Enterprises has introduced the TorsoBall as an alternative to the classic exercise ball. The TorsoBall is different because it has a rotating handle design, which allows users to hang on to it while leveraging their own body weight to create a full-body, non-impact workout. Members and personal training clients can perform a signature three-minute "one and done" core workout or full-body circuit workout. No assembly is required.
