Anytime Fitness, Hastings, MN, has signed a master franchise agreement for India with New Delhi-based House of Fitness Pvt. Ltd., which will develop its own Anytime Fitness gyms, sell sub-franchises and provide ongoing support to franchisees. It also will promote and market the brand in India. Anytime Fitness will, in turn, provide exclusive rights to House of Fitness for the use of the brand's trademarks, systems and intellectual property during the term of the agreement. Four Anytime Fitness clubs had opened in India under a prior master franchise agreement with a different company, but that relationship terminated after that master franchisee did not comply with the terms of its master franchise agreement, according to Anytime Fitness. |

The American Council on Exercise (ACE), San Diego, and Town Sports International (TSI), New York, which operates New York, Boston, Washington and Philadelphia Sports Clubs, have created a new personal training instructional program called Xercise International. The program is a three-month course that builds students' knowledge and skills in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition, personal training, and business and marketing skills. The training program will be facilitated at select TSI locations, rolling out initially in Connecticut and Virginia and led by TSI fitness professionals who will be trained by ACE. Upon completion of the course, top graduates will be considered for employment at TSI clubs.
The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Chandler, AZ, and the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI), Huntingdon Valley, PA, are joining forces to create a new personal trainer program. The two companies will combine to generate a hands-on course for individuals who want to become certified in the fitness industry.
Technogym, Gambetolla, Italy, is set to supply fitness equipment to the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Technogym, which has assisted with four previous Summer Olympics, will equip and maintain the main gym in the Olympic Village. Along with supplying and providing more than 750 pieces of equipment, Technogym also will provide a team of more than 100 personal trainers to help assist competing Olympians.
Software developer Serif has launched a new website design program, WebPlus X6, which targets club owners and charity leaders. This new design software makes creating a website simpler and gives owners a variety of options when it comes to websites, online stores and ways to engage their members.
Shape.Net Software, Colts Neck, NJ, has been selected by World Gym Taiwan to be its software provider. World Gym Taiwan is expected to open 21 new fitness facilities in Taiwan and has plans to develop 100 more clubs in China within the next five years. Larry King, owner and founder of Shape.Net Software, says the company is making the system available in Chinese to assist World Gym Taiwan. Shape.Net software allows fitness facilities to operate using cloud-based software, making scheduling, booking and billing easier for members.
Fitness trainer and author Chazz Weaver is slated to speak at 12:25 p.m. on July 7 at the 2012 IDEA World Fitness Convention, held July 5-8 in San Diego. His presentation is on "Youthfulness from the Inside Out." Weaver is a spokesperson for REBOOTizer, a natural antioxidant/detox supplement. He conducts health and fitness seminars on the fundamentals of wellness and he is author of the book “The OC Diet Revolution.”
