Construction Spending Down
Construction spending in December totaled $1.054
trillion, 3.6% below the December 2007 level and 1.4% down from
November, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau. For the year,
construction spending totaled $1.079 trillion, a 5.1% drop from the

Ten-Year Veteran
Electrical Worker Dies in Accident
On Feb. 10, Ernie Russell, 61, was electrocuted when a
light post he was setting up touched some overhead power lines in
midtown Tucson, Ariz. Russell, a senior electrical supervisor for
Ashton
Construction, Tucson, Ariz., was working on a transportation
enhancement
project when the accident occurred.The incident is under
investigation by both Ashton Construction and the Tucson office of the
Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health.
