How and when do you send site recommendations for incentive
conferences to senior executives? Do you invite your executives to your
pre-con meeting? We got an
inside look at how Prudential Financial’s Debbie Boschee and
Sharon Kelly manage the company’s 900-person President’s Club
conference. (Hint: it’s all about communication.) Plus, Debbie shared
some of her cool ideas for high-impact, low-budget activities for the
families who attend the conference. (“Dive-in movie,” anyone?)

We’re networking all the time, says Andrea Nierenberg,
herself a “networking success story” (according to The Wall
Street Journal), so we should make the most of it by being prepared.
Nierenberg will present a two-part session on building your brand at the
Financial & Insurance Conference Planners Education Forum in St. Louis
in June, where she also will share her many tips for successful
networking. Our fave: Create a “small talk” notebook—or just use
your BlackBerry—to jot down reminders about current events, industry
news, books, and movies. These will help when you need some
“conversation continuations.” We’ve got five
more of her best tips to share—plus Forum registration
information.

Next up in our interview series is Bill Brownson, who leads
the meeting management department at John Hancock Financial Services in
Boston. That’s Bill, at left, somewhere around the halfway mark during
this year’s Boston Marathon. Read our
interview and you can guess what he was listening to in order to
finish all 26.2 miles in just over 4 hours.

Financial & Insurance Meetings’ 2010 Premium Circle Awards, and
you’ll be automatically entered to win a special vacation package,
courtesy of Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa, Florida. We’re asking you to

neglect, abandonment, or early childhood trauma. Our Little Haven
annually serves 400 children, ages birth through 12 years. So click that
“Like” link, help children, and network with peers in the industry.
The count recently topped 300. How high can it go?
