While more than 100 million people watched the Super Bowl Sunday night on television, only about 70,000 fans got a seat inside Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium. "Meetings Matter!" U.S. Travel Tells Select Lawmakers

The U.S. Travel Association has launched a new campaign to raise awareness in Congress about the importance of meetings and incentive travel to the economy. The effort has two unusual elements: First, it’s focusing only on lawmakers from the states that do the most meeting and incentive travel business, and second, each of those lawmakers will be getting quarterly customized reports on the health of the meetings industry in their states and around the country. Welsh to Head Merged Convention Bureau in Chicago

Changes are afoot in the Windy City, where the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau is merging with the Chicago Office of Tourism and Culture in an effort to streamline marketing operations and free up funds that can be used to promote the city.
