Now Shipping: Altec Lansing New 1662A Mixer
Altec Lansing Professional's new 1662A mixer offers six mic/line inputs that feature a switchable -20dB pad and +48-volt phantom power. Separate TRS inserts allow users to patch accessory signal processing gear. Each mix channel has up to 60dB input gain, separate bass and treble controls, level adjustment and an output level-assign switch to send any channel to either or both outputs (A, B or A+B). A full 11-segment LED array indicates stereo output level. MORE

Crest Performance STP-1 Preamp
Crest Performance's STP-1 2-channel, single-rackspace mic/line processor and channel strip ($699) will be available in late 2004. Each of the two channels comprise four sections: the microphone and line preamplifier; a 4-band parametric equalizer; output level, pan, meter and sum controls; and a SmarTube sound processor, a solid-state processing technology that replicates the warmth of vacuum tubes. Eastern Acoustic Works released DSAPilot Version 1.2 software for its Digitally Steerable Array (DSA) Series loudspeaker system. DSAPilot, which is available as a free download from www.eaw.com, provides a simple control interface to adjust the vertical coverage pattern of up to 32 DSA loudspeakers. MORE

The latest addition to the DiGiCo product line is the D5 RE (Redundant Engine), a stand-alone outboard engine system that provides total audio engine redundancy through a few connections to any DiGiCo D5 Live console. MORE

The three new self-powered subwoofers from Renkus-Heinz comprise the DR18-1's PM-1L PowerNet Module produces 128.5dB peak SPL from an 18-inch cone transducer in a vented direct-radiating enclosure: Frequency response is 32 to 120 Hz. The DR18-2's PM-2L PowerNet Module delivers peaks of 135 dB SPL and frequency response of 32 to 120 Hz from a vented direct-radiating enclosure with dual 18-inch cone transducers. The BPS15-2 uses a high-efficiency seventh-order bandpass enclosure design to produce 135 dB peak SPL and a frequency response of 35 to 250 Hz from dual 15-inch cone transducers driven by the PM-2L PowerNet Module. Now Shipping: Tascam CC-222mkII CD/Cassette Combination
Included in the design of Tascam's CC-222mkII CD/cassette combo are a number of enhancements for event recording. When recording from cassette to CD, the new SYNC REC feature senses when the audio has been silent for more than six seconds and pauses recording; recording resumes when the audio comes back. A digital attenuation control can now be added to the analog inputs, and the CD's digital converters have been upgraded to 24-bit resolution for increased dynamic range. MORE

Dillon Production Services, a provider of sound and lighting, was recently brought in for a Home Depot event at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta. To provide optimum audio impact for the 700 conference attendees, Dillon Productions rolled out its new EAW KF730 line array system, which comprised six KF730 mid/high boxes on each side and two SB730 subs on each side for low end. Philadelphia-based The Roots recently employed Electro-Voice mics for a recently released (and broadcast on MTV2) live DVD, The Roots Presents, which was recorded at New York City's Webster Hall. The event also featured guest artists Jean Grae and Mobb Deep, among others. MORE

Dylan Plays London With Nexo GEO T
Bob Dylan made a rare outdoor appearance when he played for 30,000 fans at the Finsbury Park Fleadh (London). This one-day festival saw Dylan headlining the bill that also included The Charlatans and the Counting Crows. A Nexo GEO T array system was provided by SSE Hire for the event, with Midas front-of-house control for all the engineers except Pablo Wheeler, who brought in a DiGiCo digital board to mix Dylan. dV-DOSC Captures Sound Bytes on Schwarzenegger's Political TrailSound on Stage (SOS) of Hayward, Calif., reports that it has been following California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger around the state for almost a year now, providing the P.A. system for his various speaking engagements.
