Turbosound has released a new range of digitally powered systems in its QLight Series. Ron Fair, veteran record man, six-time Grammy nominee and president of A&M Records, will present the keynote speech at the 117th AES Convention at noon on Thursday, October 28, 2004, at San Francisco's Moscone Center. "In his more than two decades as an outstanding hitmaker, Ron Fair has exhibited a rare combination of creative and technical prowess and remarkable business acumen," said AES 117th convention chair John Strawn. Soundweb Answers Prayers of Lough Derg's St. Patrick's Basilica
BSS Audio's proprietary digital SoundWeb engine has been installed as a solution to the eight-second reverberation time in the large St. Patrick's Basilica, Lough Derg, in the county of Donegal, Ireland. Acoustician Martin Grainger, of Omagh-based Grainger Communication, has been working at Lough Derg for almost 20 years. "The Basilica was built around 1910 and the sound has been like this for years," Grainger said. "We are looking at providing a complete acoustic treatment via systematic upgrade, but I knew that SoundWeb would immediately provide a level of control." MORE

Hard Rock Las Vegas Brings in dbx ZonePro
The Body English nightclub, a new addition to the Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel, has installed the new dbx ZonePro 640 Digital Zone processor. Body English, which opened earlier this summer, installed two of the ZonePro 640 systems, as well as seven dbx Zone controllers. The state-of-the-art system was designed by John Lyons, president of Boston-based firm Moonlighting Inc. MORE

Mohegan Sun Resort/Casino Has New ISIS WideLine System
The Mohegan Sun Resort/Casino's (Uncasville, Conn.) live performance venue, the Wolf Den, has recently installed a QSC ISIS WideLine system. Mohegan Sun Lead audio engineer, Eugene "Gino" Mulcahy, and Jeff Mele, president of Waterbury, Conn.-based North American Theatrics Ltd., contributed to the design of the Wolf Den audio system. "Everyone from Alice Cooper and the Blues Brothers to Cheap Trick and Chick Corea play this place," Mulcahy says. "That's why one of our main objectives with QSC's WideLine boxes was to supply serious sound that is so good that visiting acts can feel free to leave their own systems on the truck. If anything, this system is effectively a full-tilt touring rig come home to roost." MORE

SLS Loudspeakers Hit NYC's New Nightclub: 17
SLS Loudspeakers announced that 17, one of New York's newest nightclubs, installed multiple SLS speakers. "We decided to do everything high end with this club and wanted the sound system to match," says JP, owner of 17 and its sister club, Suite 16. "A friend of mine highly recommended the SLS units after he installed them in his Miami nightclub. These are by far the best speakers I've ever listened to. The sound detail is amazing, especially with the incredible bass and high end." MORE
