At this year's London-based PLASA tradeshow, Digidesign
announced VENUE, a state-of-the-art modular live sound reinforcement
mixing and processing environment. MORE
Ashly Protea 24.24M Matrix Digital Processor Unveiled at
PLASA was Ashly's latest digital processor, the Protea 24.24M Matrix,
the newest addition to the Protea System II Series. The modular unit
provides up to 24 channels of audio matrix and processing and begins
shipping in the fall. MORE
Sennheiser Headset Mics HSP2, HSP4 Two new Sennheiser
headsets, HSP2 (omni) and the HSP4 (cardioid) with applications for
professional broadcast, theater and touring, are now available. MORE
Alcons Q Series: LR16 Pro Ribbon Line Array, LR16B Alcons
Audio showed its LR16 pro ribbon line array module and the recently
launched LR16B double 15-inch NeoDymium driver bandpass supplement at
the recent PLASA show. The LR14, Alcons' ultracompact line array module,
features the patented RBN401 pro ribbon driver. Designed as either an
ultracompact line array system or as an underfill of the LR16, the LR14
has a dispersion pattern of 120x15 degrees. Its 800-watt peak power
handling offers similar dynamic response as the larger LR16. MORE
KV2 EX 12 Speaker System KV2 Audio introduced the new EX 12
active full-range speaker system at the recent PLASA show in London. In
development for the past two years, KV2's goal was to create a speaker
that would "redefine the 12-inch, two-way category." MORE
EAW Element Series of Weatherproof Speakers The new Element
Series from Eastern Acoustic Works is composed of acoustically inert,
waterproof enclosure material and high-impact polypropylene with
40-percent calcium carbonate. Shaped into enclosures with few or no
parallel surfaces, this new material makes the Element Series sonically
indistinguishable from EAW's laminated Baltic Birch enclosures. MORE

variable-pattern surface-mounted boundary microphone comes as either

Sirius Showequipment AG, a large rental contractor for
sound and lighting equipment in Germany, has begun converting its
inventory to Crown's flagship line of touring and corporate P.A., the
I-Tech. MORE
Communication Resources Inc to Represent TC Electronic in Select
States John Maier, CEO of TC Electronic Inc., announced that
Communication Resources Inc. will represent TC in Missouri, Kansas,
Nebraska, Iowa and southern Illinois. Communication Resources Inc, an
independent manufacturer's rep firm, will represent all five lines
distributed by TC, including TC Electronic, TC-Helicon, Dynaudio

Robin Gibb Returns to the Stage Bee Gees member Robin Gibb
has returned to the public eye after two years of mourning the untimely
loss of his twin brother and fellow Bee Gee, Maurice. Robin's immediate
plans include a live tribute concert and worldwide television special,
compilation, new recordings and concert tours. The project has been
planned to take over five years and will re-introduce Gibb and the Bee
Gees to music lovers. MORE
Crown Int. Recipient of First Runner-Up Title in U.S. Senate
Productivity Award Crown International was recently named first
runner-up for the U. S. Senate Productivity Awar (2003). The award is
given annually and is sponsored by U.S. Senator Richard G. Lugar, the
Indiana Manufacturers Association (IMA) and the Association for
Manufacturing Excellence (AME). The award recognizes outstanding
productivity gains or methods, which may be utilized by other Indiana
companies to improve Indiana's overall productivity. Larry Coburn,
senior VP of manufacturing for Crown commented: "We are very proud to
have received this award. This recognition by our peers in the
Manufacturing community is extra special because they understand the

Shure Opens New Technology Annex Shure Incorporated
announced today the opening of the Shure Technology Annex, an addition
to the company's corporate headquarters. This 65,000-square-foot,
two-story structure is occupied by the company's engineering and quality
laboratories, service department, tool and model shops, archives,

API Audio's New European Logistics Center API Audio, a
division of the ATI Group, opened a European Logistics Center in Wisla,
Poland, in mid-May concurrent with Poland's joining of the European

European Tour Uses Aviom
Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter James Taylor
toured six countries using Aviom products. Taylor's longtime
front-of-house engineer, John Godenzi, designed a monitoring system for
the band that uses Aviom's A-Net technology for all onstage monitoring.

It's MacPherson's Monoliths, IS12s at the 2004 Reno Jazz
Festival The 42nd Annual Reno Jazz Festival was held on in late
April at the University of Nevada in Reno, Nev. In addition to
performances by jazz legends, up-and-coming jazz performers and
world-class clinicians spent three days immersed in instrumental and

International Artist Sanz Takes Procolor, RLM and Lake Contour on
Latest Tour Spanish pop sensation Alejandro Sanz recently
completed a three-month tour of Latin America and the United States to
promote his latest release, No Es lo Mismo. Joining forces to
provide production sound equipment for the tour were Mexico's Procolor
and Spain's RLM, who together used four Lake Contour digital loudspeaker

Microphones The Nashville Chamber Orchestra (NCO) turned to DPA
Microphones to outfit its organization with several high-end
microphones, including the MSS6000 and several others. MORE
New York's Hot 97's Summer Jam Brings in PRG Mbox For New
York radio station Hot 97's Summer Jam concert that recently took place
at the Giants Stadium (New York City), production designer Gary Westcott
integrated control of the show's audio and video elements using
Mbox™, a media control technology available through PRG. MORE
On Tour With Wilson Phillips is Sennheiser's Revolution G2
Microphone Wilson Phillips recently embarked on a promotional
tour for the multi-Platinum vocal trio's new album release,
California. The group, comprising sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson
(daughters of Beach Boy Brian Wilson), and friend Chynna Phillips
(daughter of Michelle and John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas), made
use of Sennheiser's Evolution Wireless Series RF microphones and
personal monitoring systems on the tour, which included select live
