ADVERTISEMENT There's a lot more to TransAmerica Audio Group than gear. Tips from Inside Mix Tour manager/FOH engineer Kevin "Chief" Zaruk on mixing for Nickelback live: "Almost every song has delay on it, even if you can't notice it, like 50 ms on guitar. On almost the whole set, there is 100 ms of delay on the vocal. But I like it because you can't notice it, but you notice it if it's not there. Chad [Kroeger, lead singer/guitarist] likes a lot of effects on certain songs; you'll notice a lot of delays will come in and out. I like it. It gives you something different than the CD." MORE Allen Cato (guitarist/co-producer) on Meshell Ndegeocello latest release: "[Ndegeocello] really is a free spirit, creative and extremely prolific. The technical aspect of these things can block that sometimes. Being a musician myself, I can understand what that is like. So I tried to create an atmosphere where we could flow and make the technical aspects as much of a non-issue as I could for her." MORE |
