Pre-NAMM Showcase
With Winter NAMM only 12 days away (January 16-19 in Anaheim, Calif.), here are a few products that will make their pro audio debut:

Check out TC Electronic's single-engine stereo version of its System 6000, the Reverb 4000. Booth 6844 Hall A.

Previously announced for at the end of 2002, MOTU will debut a pre-release of Digital Performer for Mac OS X. Booth number 6410 Hall A.

Soundcraft is set to unveil the multiformat E Series, the latest addition to its Spirit range mixers. Harman Pro Room 7800.

Virtual-instrument developer Spectrasonics will highlight the now-shipping Atmosphere Dream Synth Module, its newest sample-based programmable synth that works as a native plug-in with Logic, Digital Performer, Cubase, Nuendo and Pro Tools. Booth 6730 Hall A.

A variety of top-flight players will stop by M-Audio's booth (6704, Hall A) including, Earth, Wind & Fire's Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Ralph Johnson and Myron McKinley; Mike Garson (keyboardist/pianist; David Bowie), Gerry Leonard (guitarist; Duncan Sheik, David Bowie) and Steve Tavaglione (saxophonist; Caldera, Patti Austin); and Tom Scott (saxophonist; L.A. Universal Audio SmartCode Pro TDM plug-ins
At this year's Surround conference, Universal Audio released three new versions of its SmartCode Pro TDM plug-ins, which are all now compatible with Digidesign's Pro Tools|HD format. The Surround Encoders for DTS and Dolby DVD have been upgraded along with the DTS CD version. Existing users can upgrade for $99. MORE

Steinberg's new digital audio-editing software for the project studio, WaveLab Essential is designed for stereo and multitrack editing, mastering apps, broadcast, multimedia and sound design for samples. WaveLab Essential is available at all Steinberg dealers for $299.

TC Works' 24/7-C virtual limiting amplifier for its Powercore is now shipping. It is included with Powercore, and is also available as a free download for registered Powercore owners at www.tcworks.de.
