TL Audio M4 Tube Consoles
TL Audio has launched 40- and 48-channel versions of the M4 tube console for worldwide distribution. The desk features four valve stages, 4-band swept EQ, four aux sends and a separate track level output. It is designed to work with a digital setup, and features an optional ADAT interface and 24-bit/96kHz output. MORE

DUY's Magic Spectrum is a mastering plug-in for the Mac (available in TDM, RTAS, Audio Units, VST and MAS formats) that allows the user to modify the frequency content of any type of audio material. The Village Recorder Hosts Cat Power, Dixie Chicks
Matador Records/Beggars Group recording artist Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) was at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles in June to prerecord a live broadcast session for Santa Monica, Calif., public radio station KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic program. The session was produced by Arianna Morgenstern, the show's producer, and engineered by Jason Wormer with assistant engineer Chris Owens in The Village's Studio B on the Neve VR console. MORE

Inon Zur Scores "Pirates of the Caribbean" Videogame Soundtrack
Composer Inon Zur has created the original musical score for the new videogame Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow. Zur was commissioned by Bethesda Softworks to produce an original score that would reflect the adventure and excitement of the Pirates of the Caribbean in an interactive experience. MORE

Steve Kempster Mixes "PU-239" Score at Ocean Way
Award-winning score mixer Steve Kempster visited Hollywood's Ocean Way Recording to mix the score for PU-239 for HBO Films. The film depicts a worker at a Russian nuclear facility who is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation. To provide for his family, he steals some Plutonium and sets out to sell it on Moscow's black market with the help of an incompetent criminal. MORE

Saxophonist Mindi Abair Uses Audio-Technica Mics on Latest Release
Saxophonist and Audio-Technica endorser Mindi Abair's third CD, Life Less Ordinary, debuted at Number One on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Abair (pictured) picked up the saxophone in fourth grade, gathering inspiration from her saxophonist father, and took her skills straight to the stage. Abair has toured with John Tesh, Bobby Lyle, Adam Sandler, Jonathan Butler, Duran Duran, Mandy Moore and the Backstreet Boys. MORE

Dan Workman Brings "Old Time Hammer" to SugarHill
Engineer/producer Dan Workman finished production with blues/folk band Old Time Hammer at SugarHill Recording Studios (Houston) with Steve Christensen as recording and mixing engineer. Workman recorded 13 songs to be released on the band's upcoming album, Gulf Coast Train. MORE
