Veteran news anchor Tawny Little will MC the House Ear Institute's 26th Annual Benefit Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel's International Ballroom on March 18, 2004, an event that raises funds for important hearing health research and children's programs at the House Ear Institute (HEI). It will begin at 5 p.m., with the "Hollywood Auction for Hearing Health" at 5:30 p.m. and a reception at 6:30 p.m.; dinner and the evening's program will begin at 7:30 p.m. The institute will recognize philanthropist Robert H. Ahmanson as Humanitarian of the Year for his support of HEI research programs through The Ahmanson Foundation. A separate award will go to Hillel Resner, president of the Mix Foundation, who will receive the House Ear Institute's "Sound Partners Lifetime Achievement Award for Recording Arts" for his support of the institute's Sound Partners hearing conservation program.
SXSW Music and Media Conference, March 17-21, 2004, celebrating its 18th edition, will showcase hundreds of musical acts from around the globe every evening for five nights on 50 stages in downtown Austin, Texas. The grand opening of On Air West on December 24, 2003, showcased a new JBL VERTEC line array system. Installed in December 2003 during an extensive remodeling, the new sound system will provide concert audio support for a wide range of shows in the 1,200-person-capacity facility located in Tokyo's Shibuya district.
