NAB 2004: Digigram ASIO driver for miXart 8
Digigram (booth N2522, Radio hall)has released a new driver set, Version 2.00g, for its miXart 8 range of multichannel sound cards, which includes miXart 8, miXart 8 AES/EBU and miXart 8 CN (pictured). NAB 2004: Dolby New Audio Solutions

NAB 2004: Eventide BD500
Eventide (booth N704) has announced a 40-second version of its BD500 delay. The BD500, Eventide's fourth-generation broadcast profanity delay, features configurable delay and dump functions, which include adjusting the dump increments from one second up to the full delay length in half-second increments. NAB 2004: HHB PortaDrive Version 1.2
HHB will have Henry Edwards, the person responsible for engineering the PortaDrive, at the Sennheiser booth (N2812) to answer questions and provide a "test drive" of this recorder. In addition, HHB is introducing the new PortaDrive Version 1.2 software, which features many updates including Pro Tools V. 5-format support, simultaneous recording to an external disk, enhanced metadata support and Ethernet data transfer. NAB 2004: Neumann BCM 104 Broadcast Mic
Neumann (booth N2812) has launched its new broadcast line of microphones with the BCM 104. The K 104 large-diaphragm condenser capsule used in the BCM 104 has a cardioid directional pattern with switchable proximity effect compensation, introducing a highpass filter that reduces frequencies below 100 Hz by 12 dB/octave. TC Electronic Discontinues Spark, Native Bundle Development
With the introduction during the past year of TC Electronic's PowerCore FireWire and Element and the announcement of several new third-party developers, PowerCore and its related plug-ins reportedly now account for almost 90 percent of the company's computer recording revenue. Because of this, the company announced a shift in corporate strategy to focus more resources on its PowerCore platform. As a result, the company will be discontinuing further development of Spark and Native Bundle as of the current versions (Spark 2.8.2 and Native Bundle 3.1). MORE

Stanton Magnetics Helps out Les Paul
Recently, Les Paul turned his attention toward archiving the thousands of recordings he's had a hand in creating since 1929. "We have recordings in every format you can imagine," said the 89-year-old music legend. "We have analog tapes that are so old we only have one pass left on them before they disintegrate. From 1929 to 1947, though, most of the recordings exist only on very old acetate, mostly 78s. We have all different formats: 1 mil, 7 mil. We needed all the best stuff to play these old records for the first time in decades." MORE
