Beyond Traditional Advertising

One of the first types of advertising to appear on digital signage networks was the traditional 15- or 30-second television commercial spot. At the time, network operators who were hungry for any kind of ads and media buyers who may not have known better placed this content, often without any repurposing, even though it didn’t necessarily resonate with digital signage audiences. Digital signage is a unique medium, and this approach didn’t take into account some of the fundamental differences between digital signage and broadcast television. Digital signage viewers typically have very short dwell times and even a 15-second ad may be too long. Secondly, the content produced for a broadcast spot may not work, especially when the content is played back without sound. more>>

Extron Expands SMX System MultiMatrix with New USB Matrix Boards

Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce two new USB matrix switcher boards for the SMX System MultiMatrix modular, field-upgradeable matrix switcher. The SMX USB matrix boards are designed to route up to eight Host CPUs to up to four peripheral locations equipped with one or more USB 2.0 devices, such as keyboards and mice, Web cams, personal media players, or portable hard drives. They support data transfer rates up to 480 Mbps and are compatible with USB 2.0/1.1/1.0 specifications. Host and Peripheral Emulation is provided on all ports for reliable, problem-free boot up, even without a tie being made to a connected device. SMX USB matrix switcher boards are ideal for use in the creation of KVM - keyboard, video, mouse matrix applications when combined with available SMX DVI, HDMI, or VGA matrix switching boards. New Long Distance HDMI and DVI Extenders from Extron

Extron Electronics is pleased to introduce the DTP HDMI 301 and DTP DVI 301 twisted pair extenders for long distance transmission of HDMI or DVI plus bidirectional RS-232 and IR control signals over a single CAT 5-type cable. The transmitter and receiver sets are capable of extending 1080p/60 deep color and 1920×1200 up to 330 feet (100 meters). These features, combined with remote powering capabilities and compact enclosure sizes, make the DTP HDMI 301 and DTP DVI 301 ideal for providing cost effective means to extend digital video, multi-channel audio, and bidirectional control signals in space-challenged environments. more>>
